Funeral Services For John Jay Parker, 71, To Be Held Saturday

Funeral services for the late John Jay Parker, 71, will be conducted at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Peet Chapel, with the Rev. Theodore Foster, pastor of St. George's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Lusk cemetery.

The deceased passed away at about 10:30 o'clock this (Thursday) morning at the Spencer Hospital, his demise being attributed to diabetes and complications.

As we go to press, little is known of his life other than he was born at Dowagiac, Michigan. He has made his home in Lusk and Niobrara County at various times, being employed on sheep ranches. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Ayers, Valentine, Nebr., two brothers, residing in Canada and California, and a niece, Mrs. Maxine Nier of this city. John Jay Parker Dies Here Feb. 10

John J. Parker, 71, died of a heart complication Thursday, Feb. 10, at about 10:00 a.m. at the Spencer Hospital.

Funeral services were held in the Peet Chapel Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Theodore Foster officiating. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Rock of the Ages," accompanied by Miss Audrey Bostrom, organist.

Pallbearers were: Henry Pfister, Robert Ruda, Del Crane, Jim Cass, John Lorenzen and Joe Panno. Interment was in the Lusk cemetery with the Peet Mortuary in charge.

John J. Parker was born September 21, 1883 at Dowagiac, Mich., the son of John J. and Grace C. Parker. At various times he lived in Chicago and farmed in South Dakota and other places in the Middle West. On August 11, 1919 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and during his tour of duty was stationed for several months in the Philippine Islands. He received his honorable discharge July 26, 1922.

In 1928 he came to Wyoming and made Lusk his headquarters, working on various ranches in this vicinity and also near Lander and Douglas. For the past four years he lived in Lusk.

He is survived by two brothers: Don P. of Windthorst, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Dana C. of Los Angeles; two sisters: Mrs. Marjorie L. Strayer of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada and Mrs. Lionne G. Ayers of Valentine, Neb., and a niece, Mrs. Maxine Nier of Lusk. Also surviving are several other nieces and nephews. Among the out of town relatives here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ayers and Mr. and Mrs. Ward, all of Valentine, Neb.
