Pearl Patterson

Pearl Patterson, 80, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital last Thursday. Memorial service was held Tuesday at Peet Mortuary Chapel.

Pearl Patterson was born June 21, 1901, at Obrian, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Westerman. As a young girl she came to Wyoming with her parents who homesteaded south of Van Tassell.

Pearl married Welchie E. (Slim) Patterson on September 14, 1922, in Nebraska. They lived in Sioux County, Neb., south of Van Tassell and in Van Tassell before moving to Lusk in 1958. Mr. Patterson died in 1959 and Mrs. Patterson continued to make her home in Lusk.

The Rev. Frank Bozart officiated at the memorial service. Music was provided by Minerva Watson, organist, and Joy Kalenteuser who sang "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "Nearer My God to Thee."

Burial was in the Van Tassell Cemetery. Pallbearers were Norman Patterson, Don Patterson, Ray Patterson, Jimmy Potter, Welchie O. Patterson and Mike Pomeroy.

Following the burial ceremony, coffee was served at the Van Tassell hall to relatives and friends of the Patterson family.

A memorial has been established to the Niobrara Nursing Home.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by four children, Kenneth A. of Belle Fourche, S.D., Mrs. Merl (Verla) Tucker of Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. James (Florence) Potter of Lusk and Welchie of Hulett, Wyo.; two sisters, Agnes Grapes of Torrington and Florence Cox of Gering, Neb.; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.
