James Allen Peery

James Peery, 69, a resident of Lusk since 1971, died November 28, at his home.

James Allen Peery was born September 20, 1911, at Albany, Mo., the son of James and Reva Wilson Peery. After graduating from school in Albany he came to Wyoming and worked in the oil fields driving a truck. He married Dorothy Fisher in 1941, and they were divorced in 1944. He lived in Cody, Thermopolis, Laramie and Topeka, KS. He worked in Canada on the Alcan Highway in the early 1940's. Peery ranched at Wheatland until 1958 when he moved to Billings to drive truck. Since 1962, he had worked on construction throughout Wyoming, moving to Lusk in 1971 and retiring in 1979. He married Mercedes Ewing in 1973.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge.

Funeral service was Tuesday at Peet Mortuary Chapel with The Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.

Music was by Minerva Watson, organist. Pallbearers were James Pfister, Don Myrup, Vincent Price, Ed Hales, Jerry Kush and James Clement. Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

He is survived by Mercedes Peery, Lusk, two daughters, Allene Reiter and Jane Brewington, both of Billings; four stepchildren, Royce and Rita of the family home, Marla Thompson of Lusk and Brett Thompson of Lander; three sisters, Pauline McAbee of Kansas City, Mildred Spencer of Warren, Ohio, and Jean Redmon of Billings; one brother Russell of Helena, Mont. and six grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.
