Last rites for Florence Barnes

Last Rites for Mrs. Florence Barnes were held from the Peet Mortuary on March 20 with the Rev. C. W. Jervis officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Willie Almazon, C. E. Marvin, Bunt Alter, A. F. DeCastro, Fred Hansen and Anthon Hansen. Music was provided by Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. DeCastro singing "Prayer is the Heart's Sincere Desire" and "Abide With Me". Mr. J. P. Watson was organist.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Iowa May 12, 1885, the daughter of Joseph and Ella Jackson and the family later moved to Cody, Nebr., where she was married to Merlin B. Barnes. He was associated with his father in a hardware and furniture business.

Mr. and Mrs. Barnes moved to Lusk in 1910, buying the Sargent Bros. Hardware Store which they operated for 25 years. After selling the business they lived on a homestead six miles northeast of Lusk for eight years, then returned to Lusk. Mr. Barnes died eight years ago. The couple had one daughter who died when six years old.

Surviving is one brother, Kenneth W. Jackson of Portland, Ore., who was here for the services and one niece, Ione Burkhard, Portland.
