Arthur H. Shields

Services for Arthur H. Shields, 83, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 3, 1993 at Coyler Funeral Home with Reverend Peggy Boyce officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Shields died April 30, 1993, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

He was born September 29, 1909 at Ottomwa, Iowa, the son of J. F. (Fred) and Christine (Zimmerman) Shields. He attended Torrington High School, graduating with the class of 1927.

He attended Sterling Kansas Bible School for two years. He entered the farming business with his father on his grandfather's homestead six miles south of Torrington.

He married Eileen Michael on December 31, 1934 in Bridgeport, Nebraska. The couple made their home on the homestead until retirement in 1978 when they moved to Torrington.

Art enjoyed reading and was the author of several short stories that were published in his earlier years.

He was an avid bowler, gardener and bookkeeper. He belonged to the Elks, Odd Fellows and was secretary of the Moose for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of Torrington, Wyoming; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Marvin Margheim of Lusk, Wyoming; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Linda Margheim, of Mitchell, South Dakota; Al and Ellen Margheim, of Allen, Texas; and Candy and Ken Young of Rawlins, Wyoming; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation was held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 2 at Coyler Funeral Home.
