Mrs. Stephen Dies in Nebraska

Mrs. Flora Stephen, a resident of this area since 1915, died at Bassett, Nebr. last Thursday. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk. Burial was in the Jireh Cemetery.

The Rev. Robert Boutwell of the Congregational Church of Lusk officiated. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Dean Glandt sang "In The Garden" and "Nearer My God To Thee" Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Casket bearers were Gene Tyrrel, Archie Huey, Johnnie Thon, Emery Gaukel, Everett Brooks, and Charles Sullivan. Honorary bearers were G. L. Pfeifer, Reg Bafford, Jerry Holland, Kurt Baughn, J. P. Watson, Dan Smith, Harry Fernau, Sr., Legrand (Dick) Lee, Enos Lee, Ed Rogina and Neil Grant.

She was born August 18, 1885, near Mills, Nebr. to Trols and Frances Trolson. She spent her childhood at Mills, and was schooled in Keya Paha County, Nebraska.

December 1, 1902 she married George Allen Stephen in Springview, Nebr. They homesteaded in Keya Paha County and moved to Jireh, Wyo., in 1915. Her husband died in the summer of 1919, and the following spring she and her three children homesteaded south of Jireh and lived there until 1925. She resided in several places until 1952 when she moved to Lusk. She maintained her home in Lusk until a year ago when she moved to Bassett. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Lusk.

Her parents, husband, and one daughter died previously.

Survivors include one son, Clarence of Bassett; one daughter, Mrs. Marvel Morris of Torrington; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews.
