Rosamond M. West

Rosamond M. West passed away at Regional West Medical Center of Scottsbluff, Neb., on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002. She was born in Canon City, Colo., on Feb. 22, 1922, as the fourth child to Alonzo and Marie Logsdon.

At a very early age her family moved to Laramie, where she received her formal education. She graduated from Laramie High School in 1940 and attended the University of Wyoming for two years. While at the University she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was joined in marriage to Sylvester E. West at Quantico Marine Corp Base in Virginia on Jan. 16, 1943, after which they enjoyed 59 years of a loving marriage.

While her husband was overseas, she was employed in several jobs including the PFE in Laramie. She joined her husband on his return to the United States, living next to Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base in Oceanside, Calif. Upon on his discharge from the Marines, Si and Rosamond moved to Lander, living there for six months before their transfer in September of 1946 to Lusk, where she remained until her death.

Her first love was her family and being a loving mother and housewife. She spent time employed by the Lusk State Bank and Barrett's Law Office in Lusk. She enjoyed cooking and was known as an excellent cook. Other hobbies included knitting, stained glass and numerous craft projects. Rosamond was an active member in the Congregational Church, Church Circle and Niobrara County Cowbells. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a 4-H Club Leader and participated in several bridge clubs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, two brothers; one sister; a close aunt; one son, Thomas Floyd; and an infant granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Sylvester West of Lusk; two sons, Gary David and wife Pat of Casper, and Brett Richard and wife Vicky of Lusk; one daughter Tamra Rae Jensen and husband Casey of Lusk; one grandson; three granddaughters; four step-granddaughters; one step-grandson; one great-grandson; and one great step-grandson.

The family prefers memorials be sent to the Si & Rosamond West 4-H Scholarship Fund or the Congregational Church of Lusk.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Congregational Church in Lusk. Interment followed in the Lusk Cemetery.
