Funeral services for rural Niobrara County resident Gary P. Wocicki, 52, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 1993, at the First United Methodist Church of Newcastle with Pastor Gene Hagerman officiating. Burial followed in the Newcastle Greenwood Cemetery.

Wocicki died unexpectedly at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk on Monday, Jan. 25, 1993.

A memorial has been established to the Lusk EMTs.

He was born June 16, 1940, the son of Felix and Bernice (Butler) Wocicki at the family ranch north of Newcastle. He was raised and educated in the Newcastle area, attending rural schools through the lower grades and graduating Newcastle High School in 1958.

He later attended a jeweler's school in Illinois. He also served in the Wyoming National Guard.

Gary enjoyed all little children, family barbecues, working with flowers and gardens and helping out his fellow neighbors. He worked as a jeweler at Newcastle Drug and Jewelry, Zales Jewelry and Sears and Roebuck Company. He has also been employed as a truck driver and in the oilfield. At the time of his death he was employed by Zerbst Pumping Service.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, his grandparents and four uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, of Lusk; his parents, Felix and Bernice Wocicki of Newcastle; one daughter, Suzanne Wocicki; six stepdaughters, Peggy Montoya, Donna Harvel, Marlene Hertz, Debbie Crawford, Julie Shepperson and Angie Mills; four stepsons, Donnie Foltz, David Bond, Paul Bond and Mark Bond; two sisters, Arlene Zerbst and Linda Elliott; one brother, Gene Wocicki; 23 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle were in charge of arrangements.
