G. A. Young Dies at Home Near Jay Em on Saturday

Gaylord Amos Young, who for more than seventeen years has been a resident of the Jay Em community, died at his home last Saturday evening, following a brief illness. Mr. Young had been suffering from indigestion, and last Friday, while he was out with team and wagon, he was stricken with an attack and was found some distance from his home in extreme pain. He was taken to his home and put to bed, but other complications set in and weakened because of his suffering he was unable to withstand the shock and the end came Saturday evening. He was 61 years and 8 months of age.

Mr. Young is survived by three children: Arthur Young of the Rawhide vicinity; Mrs. Frances Conner, of Chicago and Mrs. Edna Baithwait, of Chicago. The deceased was preceded in death by his wife who passed away more than a year ago at Chicago.

Mr. Young was a fine citizen and had the respect and admiration of all who knew him. His neighbors and friends in his home territory will miss him greatly.

Funeral services were held from the Jay Em Hall Tuesday afternoon, under direction of George Earl Peet of the Peet Mortuary of this city. Rev. B. F. Farrar, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lusk officiated. Interment was made in the Jay Em cemetery.

Gaylord Amos Young was born in December, 1869, at Troy, Pennsylvania and it was there that he grew to manhood's estate. It was there also that he was married to Ethel Graham in 1889. To this union three children were born: Arthur J. Young of the Rawhide community; Mrs. Frances Conner, of Chicago, Ill.; and Mrs. Edna Baithwait, also of Chicago, Ill. All survive the deceased. The mother preceded their father by over a year, passing on to her reward at Chicago, August 9th, 1930.

Mr. Young came to Wyoming in 1914 and has since resided in the Jay Em community, where he was well and favorably known.

Last Friday noon, he was found some distance from home, with a team and wagon, and apparently suffering from a sudden attack of indigestion, which, along with other complications setting in, brought the end Saturday evening, August 22, 1931. His sojourn on earth was 61 years and 8 months.

During the earlier years of his life, Mr. Young was a faithful member of the Methodist church, and at no time did he ever recant his Lord, although he often confessed that he did not live a very consistent Christian life.

There remain to mourn his passing his three children, ten grandchildren, one sister living in Pennsylvania and four brothers, also of that state.

Funeral services were held from the hall at Jay Em, Tuesday afternoon, under the direction of George Earl Peet of the Peet Mortuary of Lusk. Rev. B. F. Farrar, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lusk, officiated at the services, the text of his sermon being taken from Mark 4:35. Interment was had in the Jay Em cemetery.
