Brother Of Bernard Condelario Is Killed N Pacific War Zone

Thon Book No. 2

Word received from Lieut. Gen. T. Holcomb, Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps, last Thursday evening brought the tragic news to Bernard Condelario of this city that his brother , Pfc. Vincent Condelario, USMC had been killed in action. As usual, the message contained no details, but informed the young mans parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Condelario of Pine Ridge, S. Dak. to whom the telegram was addressed, that a letter would follow.

Private Condelario is presumed to have died somewhere in the South Pacific theatre of action, since that is where the Marines have been most heavily engaged in recent battles involving American forces. He enlisted December 16, 1941, received his initial training on the west coast and was sent overseas in February 1942. He had seen action in the Guadalcanal battle and emerged from that engagement unscathed. He was 21 years old last June.

He was one of three brothers serving with American Armed Forces, the other two including 2nd Mate Joseph Condelarion, with the South Pacific naval forces and Lt. Ensign Richard Condelario, whose assignment has been in the Atlantic.
