Arthur Grimes Dies Here Tues.

Arthur Grimes, 78, Niobrara County pioneer, died at the Spencer Hospital early Tuesday morning. Mr. Grimes, who lived alone in North Lusk, was found unconscious about 11:30 a.m. and taken to the hospital by a neighbor, Del Crane. He had suffered a stroke.

Mr. Grimes is survived by a son, Wayne A. Grimes of Chadron, and a sister, Mrs. James Elliott of Washington state.

Funeral services will be held at the Peet Mortuary at 2:p.m. Thursday.

Services for Arthur Grimes Held Thursday

Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. last Thursday for Arthur Grimes with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.

Mrs. Ab DeCastro, Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Jesse Rice sang "Sweet By and By" and "Rock of Ages". Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist. Pall beareres were: Ted Lohr, Johnnie Thon, Walter Lohr, Harlan Lohr, John Lohr and Glen Erlewine.

Charles Arthur Grimes, son of George L. and Mary (Wolferd) Grimes, was born at Columbus, Nebr. May 26, 1881. His family moved to what is now Niobrara County in 1889 and homesteaded in the Kirtley community.

He married Miss Pearl Baird May 29, 1909 and they were the parents of two children, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Grimes moved into Lusk 16 years ago and purchased a small acreage in the north part of town. November 1 neighbors found him unconscious in his home and took him to the Spencer Hospital. He died early Tuesday.

Mr. Grimes is survived by his son, Wayne A. of Chadron, Nebr., a sister, Mrs. Mamie Elliot of North Bonneville, Wash., three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lusk.
