Robert Baldwin Killed In Horse Accident Tues.

Robert L. Baldwin, 19 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Baldwin of the Van Tassell community, died in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital Tuesday about 6:30 p.m. from injuries sustained when a horse fell with him.

The accident occurred at the Baldwin ranch home 26 miles east of Lusk early Tuesday morning. Robert was with his father trailing cattle when the horse fell and rolled over on him. Dr. O.E. Torkelson was called to the scene and the injured boy was rushed to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. He never regained consciousness.

He graduated from Torrington High School with the class of 1950.

Survivors in the immediate family include his parents, two brothers, Edward and Harry, Jr.

Although arrangements are incomplete, it is thought the funeral will be conducted Friday or Sat.

Services Held for Robert Baldwin

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Peet Funeral Home for Robert Leslie Baldwin, who was fatally injured June 5, when a horse fell with him at the Baldwin ranch home 26 miles southeast of Lusk.

Robert with his father was trailing cattle early last Thursday morning when his horse fell rolling over on him. He was rushed to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk, where he died that evening without gaining consciousness.

The Rev. John Schnackenberg officiated at the services. Two selections, "Going Down the Valley" and "Ivory Palaces," were sung by a quartet comprising Justine Watson, Juanita Cork, Geraldine Klemke and Hazel Jean Kuns. Mrs. J.P. Watson presided a the chapel organ. Casket bearers were Mahlon Peterson, Bill DesEnfants, Vern Browder, Wendell Grapes, Pvt. Wayne Hahn and Darrell Benshoof. Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery.

Robert Leslie Baldwin, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baldwin, Sr. of Van Tassell was born Jan. 19, 1932. He received his first 10 years of schooling in the Prairie Center school. He attended the Torrington High School for two years and was a graduate with the class of 1950.

Robert was a member of the Prairie Center Congregational Church.

Growing to manhood in the Prairie Center community, he was active in 4-H work. Robert was engaged in ranching with his father.

Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Harry, Jr., and Edward, and their wives, and a host of other relatives.

Relatives other than the immediate family attending the services were: Mrs. Jess Baldwin, Harvey Baldwin, Mitchell, S.D.; Mrs. George Baldwin, Darrel and James Baldwin, Clark, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Willard and Richard, Rapid City; Mrs. Dudley Tiddy, Rozel, Kans.; Mrs. Henry Bremer and children, Walton, Nebr.; Mrs. Walter Petersen, Betty, Homer and Alvin Petersen, Morrill, Nebr.; Joe Baldwin, Torrington; James Klint, Lance Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ritter and children, Veteran.
