Roy A. Bleak

A 19-year-old Lance Creek man died Friday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Roy A. Bleak was discovered by his father outside the family home at Lance Creek early Friday morning. A .22 caliber magnum handgun was found near his body.

Memorial services for Roy Arthur Bleak, 19, of Lance Creek were held Monday, June 23 at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk. Rev. Dan Gainer officiated with burial following in the Lusk Cemetery.

Bleak died early Friday morning, June 20, 1986 at his home in Lance Creek. He was born Sept. 27, 1966 in Lander, WY, the son of Don and Donna Bleak. When Roy was three years old, the family moved from Crowheart, WY to the Clayton Dixon ranch north of Lance Creek.

In September 1974, the family moved to Lance Creek where Roy was residing at the time of his death.

He attended the Cow Creek School, Lance Creek Elementary School and graduated from Niobrara County High School in Lusk in 1985. He also attended Sheridan College for one semester.

Bleak was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Newt Bleak and Dan Bleak, both of Lusk, his maternal grandparents, Jay and Lavina Sanderson of Ft. Worth, TX; plus numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Music for the memorial service was provided by organist Rose Kremers, and Carolyn Hammond and Jeane Peterson, singing a duet. Casket bearers were Mike Kupke, Tom Whiteaker, John Spero, Shawn McMaster, Rola Ross and Don Pearson.
