Mrs. Robert Cross Follows Husband In Death Sunday

Lusk friends were shocked when it was learned on Sunday, May 21, that Mrs. Robert L. Cross had died at the Chadron Hospital on that date, less than two weeks after her husband had taken his own life at their home in Chadron.

Mrs. Cross had been in poor health for several years but it was likely that the shock of her husband's death hastened her own.

Faye Cross was the daughter of Victor and Hattie Law and was born January 11, 1892 at Muscatine, Iowa. She was educated in the Liberty, Nebr., schools, preparatory to becoming a teacher.

She lived the early years of her life in Nebraska and moved to Lusk, Wyo., in 1937 where she published the "Lusk Roundup" until her marriage to Robert L. Cross on November 3, 1943.

The couple moved from this city to Chadron in November of 1949.

Mrs. Cross is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David E. Gibson and Mrs. Bill J. Shelton and a granddaughter, Carla Jay Shelton, all of Albuquerque, N. Mex., and a step-son, Harold Cross of Los Angeles.

Funeral services were held in Chadron on Tuesday, May 23 by the same minister and the same music that had served at the services for Mr. Cross and the remains were then brought to Lusk where graveside services were under the arrangement of the Peet Mortuary.

Rev. Clyde Hampton, who officiated at Mr. Cross' services again conducted graveside services and the same casket bearers served with the exception of Herb Klindt, who was out of town, so his place was taken by Lawrence Savage. The others were Harold Scriven, Jennings Ruffing, A.F. DeCastro, E.M. Criss and Sam Thomas, Sr.
