Brent Bruch dies Monday

Funeral service will be this Thursday afternoon, Aug. 24, for Brent Bruch, long-time Lusk area resident. Bruch died Monday at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Frank Blish will preside over the 2:00 p.m. service at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Organist will be Mrs. Minerva Watson, and soloist, Mrs. Marilyn Cockreham will sing "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Beyond The Sunset."

Interment will be in the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Orval Allen, Ray Taylor, Alvin Alexander, Art Renzelman, James McNeill and John Goddard.

Memorials have been established to the Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Charles Brent Bruch was born in Pawnee City, Neb., on March 24, 1893, the son of George and Harriet Bruch. He died August 21, 1978 at the Niobrara County memorial Hospital. He received his education and grew to manhood at Pawnee City, Neb., and then came west in the fall of 1916 settling with his mother at Lusk.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and except for that time spent the rest of his life in or near Lusk. He homesteaded north of Hat Creek. He was married to Olga Anderson on Feb. 3, 1921, at Lusk and together they lived and farmed north of Lusk until 1938 when they moved to town and Brent became a carpenter. He followed this occupation until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He is survived by his widow of Lusk; daughter Vera Martin of Lost Springs; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; sister Clara Vroman of Sebastopol, Calif., and several nieces in California.
