Obituary - P. A. Pearce

Note: Although the following obituary uses the middle initial A, the above article, the Lusk Cemetery records, and the family obituaries all use the middle initial of H.

Phillip A. Pearce was born at Pladville, Wisconsin, January 2, 1873, and was married at Pomeroy, Iowa, October 24, 1900. The family moved to Lusk, Wyoming, in 1913, where Mr. Pearce has since resided.

For some time Mr. Pearce had been afflicted with rheumatism of the muscles of the heart. Last Tuesday afternoon, he came home from transacting some business uptown, and complained of the pain about his heart. Dr. Murphy was called and his daughter-in-law, being a nurse, did all for him that could he done. He did not seem to be critically ill, but at eleven o'clock that evening he passed away.

Less than ten months ago, Mrs. Pearce rather suddenly died, then less than seven months ago the son, Taft, or Ted, as he was familiarly called, succumbed after a brief illness and now the father has gone. The entire community sympathizes with the bereft family.

His wife, two sons, and five brothers have preceeded him to the home beyond. There remain to mourn his departure, two sons, Athel and Ray; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Sorenson, Mrs. Bernice Pennington, Letha and Marie Pearce; one sister, Mrs. Ed. Lewis, of Iowa; two brothers, John Pearce of South Dakota and Jess Pearce of Iowa, and one grand-daughter, Leona Jean Pennington.

Mr. Pearce reached the age of 56 years, 9 months and 6 days. The past sixteen years he has spent here in our midst.
