Leo H. Clark

A Funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Leo H. Clark, 78, Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at St. Rose Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Michael Carr officiating. Burial with Military Honors followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lingle. Leo died at Goshen Care Center Aug. 5, 2008.

Leo was born Nov. 25, 1929 to Cletus and Ethel (Dinneen) Clark on the Clark homestead in the Plainview Community southwest of Lingle. As a child he attended school at Veteran, Wyo. and during the summers helped farm and herd turkeys, which helped pay the mortgage on the farm.

In 1949 he left school to farm for his father. On Feb. 14, 1951 he was inducted into the U.S. Army. On June 18, 1951 he married Norma Rose in Torrington. On July 14, 1951 he was deployed to Japan for more training and then spent the next 12 months in Korea. He returned to the states on Nov. 4, 1952 and was honorably discharged. He and Norma took over the family farm and ranch. They retired in 1994. He was an original member of the Veteran Fire Department.

Leo and Norma were blessed with six daughters, Merrijane and Ken Morgheim of Torrington, Elizabeth "Liz" and the late Craighton Kaltenheuser of Lusk, Peggy and Dave Holmstrand of Torrington, Catherine and Francisco Estrada of Ft. Stockton, Texas, Barbara Clark of Torrington, and Margaret Clark of Gering, Neb. Leo lived his whole life on the farm where he was born except for two years while in the service. Leo was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and had served on the FHA Board.

Leo is survived by his wife; daughters; five grandchildren, Kris and Haynie Morgheim, Joe Morgheim, Geoff Morgheim, Kate and Darek Farmer, and Travis Kaltenheuser; two brothers, Tom and Teresa Clark of Baton Rouge, La., and Pat and Glenna Clark of Camarillo, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Gene; one sister, Mary Catherine; and one son-in-law Craighton Kaltenheuser.

A memorial has been established to Community Hospital for either the Emergency Department or the Physical Therapy Department. Arrangements were under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
