Denise Grove

Denise Grove, 55, died Aug. 25 at her home in Red Lodge, Mont. surrounded by her family, following a two-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born July 3, 1953 in Dallas, Texas, daughter of Robert Lynwood Winters and Jeanne Louise (Nolde). The family lived in Dallas, Palo Alto, Laramie and Jackson.

She married her soul mate, Jerry E. Grove, in Lusk, Wyo., 1973. They lived most of their married life in Lusk, settling in Red Lodge in 1994.

Denise loved being "Nana" to her grandsons and she cared deeply for nature and animals, especially horses and her cats, dogs and ducks. One of her greatest joys was gardening, and she looked forward to planting flowers every spring.

Denise is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jerry Grove; son Jacob and wife Carol, and grandsons Leif and Brady Grove, all of Red Lodge. Also sisters, Nikki Tisthammer of Cody, Pam Winters of Jackson, Wyo., and Robin Winters of Victor, Idaho, her mother-in-law Betty Grove of Crawford, Neb., numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Betsy.

At her request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel was in charge of cremation arrangements. A memorial fund to help defray medical expenses has been established in her name at the First Interstate Bank, Red Lodge.
