H. W. Loomis Dies at Wheatland

H. W. Loomis pioneer rancher of the Wheatland region, and stepfather of T. C. Neilson of Lusk and Andrew Neilson of Lance Creek, died June 30 at the age of 82.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 3, in the Congregational hurch in Wheatland. Both the T. C. Neilson family and the Andrew Neilson families attended.

Mr. Loomis was given a writeup in Virginia Cole Trenholm's book, "Footprints on the Frontier." In this work it was stated that Mr. Loomis left the Middle West in the 70's to come to Wyoming, and gave an account of the various ranches at which he was employed from that time until he acquired his own property. He is widely known throughout the State.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ivey Loomis, one daughter, Miss Margaret Loomis; two sons, Harold and Jack, all of Wheatland; two step-sons, Andrew Neilson of Lance Creek, and Thomas Neilson of Lusk; one step-daughter, Mrs. J. B. Derring of Wheatland; also one son and two brothers who have preceded him in death, and two grandchildren.
