Paul Brozovich Dies Thurs.; Mass Held Here Sunday

Requiem mass was conducted from the St. Leo's Catholic Church Monday at 10 a.m. for Paul Brozovich who died at his ranch home south of Lusk August 6 after an extended illness.

The Rev. Father M. J. McBrien officiated at the mass and music was provided by the choir of St. Leo's Church. Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery with the following pallbearers, all nephews of Mr. Brozovich from Denver: Joe F. Brozovich, Joe Brozovich, John J. Brozovich, John Brozovich, Albert Brozovich and Matt Brozovich.

Paul Brozovich was born in 1883 in Croatia, Austria, the son of George and Mary Stefanec Brozovich. He and his wife, Anna, came into the United States from Austria and settled in Pennsylvania. From that state they came to Globebville, then a suburb of Denver where Mr. Brozovich was employed in the Globe Smelting and Refining Co.

Prior to World War I, Mr. and Mrs. Brozovich and their two sons and Mr. Brozovich's brother, Mike Brozovich and family, made a visit to Austria and were there when the war broke out. Paul and Mike Brozovich got out of Austria and back into the States but they were forced to leave their families there. One of the Paul Brozovich sons died in an Austrian concentration camp as a result of the unbearable conditions in the camp. It took the brothers four or five years following the war to get their wives and children out of Austria.

In 1917, Paul Brozovich's health became such that he could no longer work with the arsenic and other chemicals refined in the Globe Smelting and Refining Co. and desired to locate on a homestead. His long-time friend, V. W. Wingren, formerly of Denver and now of this city, located Mr. Brozovich on a homestead on the east side of the Rawhide Buttes, where he resided until his death.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Brozovich, a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Brozovich, all living on the family ranch south of Lusk.
