Jean Barta

Jean Barta 90, of Lusk, Wyo., died May 7, 2009 at Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk, Wyo. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday May 11, 2009 at Pier Funeral Home, 101 W. 4th Lusk, Wyo. Burial will at Lusk Cemetery with grave side services.

Jean was born Nov. 17, 1918 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Ignatz and Elizabeth Obrigewitsch. Ignatz came to this country with his parents from Russia.

On Oct. 11, 1937 she married Tony Barta in North Dakota, and then later moved to Bozeman, Mont. Together they have five children.

She was a member of the VFW and AARP and attended meetings on a regular basis.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting until she was unable to do so. She also loved spending time with her relatives and friends. Everyone really enjoyed her culinary skills along with her pastries, which she was so generously willing to share.

Survivors include her brother Christ Obrigewitsch, from Chicago two sons, Larry Barta from Salmon, Idaho , Ben Barta from Lusk, Wyo., two daughters Vivian McKay from Caldwell, Idaho and Bev Cornell of Northumberland, Pa. Nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Lori Pendleton of Midvale, Utah.

Pallbearers were David E. McKay, David J. McKay, Shane E. McKay and Tony Overstreet.

The family has been so blessed to have had her as a Mother and Grandmother.
