Gayle "Babe" E. Brown

Gayle "Babe" E. Brown died at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo. Wednesday, June 22 after suffering from a stroke and heart attack.

She was born April 30, 1902 in Fountain Green, Ill. She and Hugh Brown were married in Illinois in 1917 and moved to Wyoming shortly after. They lived most of their married life in Lance Creek.

To this union a son, William Hurley and a daughter, Velva Delores were born. This marriage ended in divorce in 1934, Gayle spent the rest of her life in Wyoming and Colorado.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins and an accomplished pianist. She played for dances for many years.

Her parents, seven sisters, one brother and her son Hurley preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Velva Sasse, Moron; three sisters, Mildred Jeffries, Kerrville, Texas, Euresa Gordon, Pendleton, Ore. and Ethel Shafer, Cody; two granddaughters, Judy and Darlene and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday June 24 at the Lusk Cemetery with Rev. Frank Blish officiating.
