Isaac Newton "Speed" Gulley Jr.

Funeral services will be held for Isaac Newton "Speed" Gulley Jr., 91, on Friday April 23, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Torrington, Wyo. with Reverend Ora Dailey officiating. Full Military Honors and interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church and the Goshen Care Center.

Visitation hours are on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel and the casket will be open at the church. Speed died on April 16, 2010 at Goshen Care Center. He was born to Isaac Newton and Winnie Florence (McCray) Gulley in Salt Fork, Ok. on Oct. 3, 1918. He grew up in Colorado, Nebraska, and finally moved to Wyoming in 1927. Speed was employed at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation from 1941-1944. He served in the US Army with the European Theater July of 1944 to January of 1946. He met and married Helen Yvonne "Fritze" Glover on July 4, 1939 where they raised three boys and three girls.

After discharge Speed purchased a farm south of Torrington and operated a dairy for 17 years. They sold the farm operation in 1963 and bought Gulley Motor Company in partnership with his brother Dean Gulley. Speed purchased Dean's interest in 1974 and operated the business until his retirement in the 1980's. After Helen passed away in 1989, he married Mildred (Mickey) Hacker on June 9, 1992. Speed loved to garden, fish, hunt, and loved boating. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, Torrington Elk's Lodge #1726, and the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Mickey Gulley of Torrington, Wyo., daughter Mary Linn Jenkins of Torrington, Wyo., son Darrel Ray "Joe" Gulley and his wife Marcia of White City, Ore., daughter Phyllis Nadine Duncan and her husband Eldon of Mitchell, Neb., daughter Karen Sue Humphreys and her husband Todd of Worland, Wyo., son Dennis George "Denny" Gulley Sr. of Lusk, Wyo., son Charles Kent "Charlie" Gulley and Karla of Gillette, WY, brother Dean Gulley and his wife Donna of Douglas, Wyo., 22 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, three step children, six step grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, and many numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife "Fritze" two brothers, three sisters, one infant brother, one grandson, three son in-laws, and one daughter in-law.
