Military Rites At Funeral of Alfred J. Ellis

The honor of a military funeral was accorded Alfred J. Ellis, who passed away last Saturday at the Douglas Hospital, and was buried in the Lusk Cemetery Monday.

The Derk J. Wieten Post of the American Legion had charge of the funeral, and the military rites were very impressively administered.

Rev. B. F. Farrar of the Baptist Church orficiated, and the services were held from the church, with the Midwest Funeral Parlors in charge.

Mr. Ellis was a highly respected citizen, and for the last ten years had lived in the vicinity of Young Woman Creek in this county.

OBITUARY
Alfred James Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman S. Ellis, was born at Galiton, Davis County, Missouri, on December 31, 1891. He was married to Miss May Susie Vroman on November 1, 1917. To this union there was born three sons and two daughters. One son, Clifford, preceded his father to the great beyond, having died at the age of two years and 24 days.

With the wife there remain two sons, Britton Lymon, 7 years, and Charley James, 5 years, and two daughters, Pearl Abbie, 3 years, and Francis Helen, 7 months. Four sisters also survive - Mrs. Matilda Good of Elsmere, Neb.; Mrs. Maud Clara, Bellevue, Neb.; Mrs. Lottie Watkins of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Hattie Leabo of Redfield, Cal. Two brothers - William Ellis, St. Louis, Mo., and G. F. Ellis of Lusk.

Alfred James Ellis enlisted in the service of his country at Lusk, Wyoming, September 5, 1918. He was discharged at Terre Haute, Ind., December 19, 1918, from the Medical Corps.

Since then the family has been living north of town on Young Woman Creek. For some time Mr. Ellis, while looking well, was in reality not very well, and took to his bed Saturday, December 1st, and on Tuesday afternoon of last week was brought to Lusk for medical attention. The next day he was taken to Douglas, where he underwent an operation early Thursday morning. He seemed to rally from the operation, but pneumonia set in and there he succumbed to his affliction Saturday morning at 2:00 o'clock, aged 35 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 and interment was made in the Lusk cemetery, with the local post of the Legion in charge.
