Mrs. Vianna Laden Called Early Today; Services on Sunday

Thon Book 9

A heart attack, the culmination of a long period of illness from a chronic heart ailment, resulted in the death, at 9:10 o'clock this (Thursday) morning, October 14th, of Mrs. Vianna Laden, well-known invalided resident of this city. Mrs. Laden passed away at the Lusk hospital, less than two hours after she was taken there following the attack which occurred in her apartment in the post office building, earlier in the morning.

Although she appeared in good condition, and was in exceptionally good spirits yesterday, she was long known to be in delicate health by her physician and intimate friends. She had submitted to the amputation of one of her limbs about three years ago, and had since been invalided.

Mrs. Laden had been a resident of this locality for many years, and had lived in this city since shortly after the death of her husband, the late John M. Laden, in 1926. Until then they had resided on a farm just south of Lusk for a number of years. Mrs. Laden's only known survivor is a sister who resides in Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the Peet mortuary at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, October 17th, with Rev. Clyde E. Hampton, pastor of the First Baptist church delivering the sermon and eulogies. The remains of the deceased will be interred in the Lusk cemetery alongside those of her husband.

Mrs. Laden was known by a large following of friends, and was highly respected by all. Her outstanding characteristics were her pleasant personality and ever-present patience, despite the fact that she had endured much suffering in her late years. She is said to have been about 70 years of age.
