J. A. Gillett, 72, Is Claimed Saturday

John Alman Gillett passed away at his home in this city 1:00 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, April 20th from a chronic heart condition. Mr. Gillett who was 72 years, 2 months and 20 days of age formerly lived in Rising City, Nebraska, until five and a half months ago he moved to this city taking up residence. Since that time he has been unable to do work of any kind due to his illness.

Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel 1:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev. P. H. Evans officiating at the services. A vocal duet composed of Mrs. Ab DeCastro and Mr. J. M. Hungate sang two songs which were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. J. P. Watson. Burial was made in the Kirtley community.

OBITUARY
John Alman Gillett was born in Lasall So., Ill., February 1st, 1868.

At the age of 11 he went with his parents to Eastern Nebraska, and three years later went with them to Custer Co., Nebr., where they settled on a homestead. While yet a young man, he professed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the Brethen church. August 8th, 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Adkison. To this union was born one daughter.

Aug. 29th, 1907, his wife died and April 13th, 1911 Mr. Gillett married Mrs. Rose Ellen Cuatt. To this union was born one daughter and one son.

He has been a common laborer all his life. During the last ten years his health has been failing. Has been bed fast for the last six weeks. Died 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20th, 1940. Leaves to mourn his loss: two daughters, Mrs. Viola Lash of Rising City, Nebr., and Mrs. Cecil Williamson of Lusk. One son, Ralph; two step children, 6 grand children, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Viola Church of Lusk. Step daughter, Mrs. Christine Seabold of Wenatche, Wash.; stepson, Wayne Cuatt of Atkinson, Nebr.
