Bertha Margaret Goedert

A family memorial service for Bertha Margaret Goedert will be held at a future date. At her request, cremation has taken place and internment will be in the Lusk cemetery.

Bertha entered heaven Dec. 25, 2011 at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, Nebraska.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1914 on a farm 15 miles south of Poplar, Montana. She went to a country school built on land donated from her mother's homestead then graduated in 1933 from Poplar High School. Upon graduation she held several jobs including switch board operator for the telephone company. She enjoyed playing the violin for many years. Bertha was a lifetime member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Poplar, Montana where she taught Sunday School and was an active member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Bertha married Nicholas Goedert in 1938 in Fort Peck, Montana. They established a family farm east of Poplar which they operated until retirement in 1975. After retirement Nick and Bertha enjoyed traveling through Russia, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Hawaii. In 1983 they moved to Kalispell, Montana then Lusk, Wyo. in 1993. They cherished family and spent several weeks every year with them.

Bertha had a deep affection for and was devoted to her daughters, grand-daughters and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was loved by all and will be remembered for her gentle manner, kind heart, patience, generosity and unconditional love.

Bertha is survived by: two daughters; Margaret Monson of Havre, Montana and Marilyn Solberg and her husband Larry of Lusk, Wyo.; six granddaughters, Sheryl Solberg, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Shelly Christianson, Lusk, Wyo.; Brenda Hoyt, Browning, Montana; Debbie Knudson, Medford, Oregon; Julie Monson, Missoula, Montana and Shannon Stanfill Cheyenne, Wyo., 10 great-grandchildren and sister Marion Frye of Portland, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her husband Nicholas Goedert, Parents Gina and Paul Neumann, two brothers Oscar Neumann and Floyd Neumann, a son-in-law Martin Monson and most recently a great-grandson Jeffrey Nicholas Kendall.
