CHEYENNE RIVER RESIDENT PASSES HERE ON TUESDAY

Charles E. Hathaway, a resident of the Cheyenne River community for the past 27 years, and well known both in his home community and throughout the county, passed away at the Lusk hospital, Tuesday, October 1, at 5:00 p.m., following a major operation earlier in the day.

Mr. Hathaway had entered the hospital Monday for the removal of a severe tumor. His condition was such that he failed to rally following the operation. He was 58 years, nine months and five days of age at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mae; two sons, Claude and Junior and two daughters, Ila and Mrs. R.O. Buhlke. Funeral services will be conducted at the Peet Mortuary chapel at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, October 4th, with Rev. Marshall in charge.

Mr. Hathaway had been in rather poor health for the past several years and his physical condition has became (sic) such that the severe shock of the operation was too great. The many friends and neighbors of the family will be sorry to learn of the passing of Mr. Hathaway, a kind husband and father who had gained the esteem of all with whom he had come in contact.

A complete obituary will appear in this paper next week.
