Ruby Marie Miller Burt

Ruby Marie Meyer Miller Burt passed away on March 9, 2016, at Niobrara Health and Life Center, where she had lived for the past two years.

Ruby was born to May and William Meyer in Missouri on April 21, 1921. She lived in Missouri until she married her first husband, William "Kenneth" Miller in 1941. Kenny worked for the Federal Government on power houses, allowing them to travel throughout the United States before settling in their first home in Littleton, Colorado. To this union three children were born: Sharon, Ronald, and Thomas.

Ruby enjoyed many careers throughout her life, including her own catering business, luncheonette for auto auction companies, and school cafeterias. After her husband passed away in early 1980, she and her good friend Marie Johnson (Sarge) purchased the Silver Dollar Bar in Lusk, Wyoming in 1980. She then married Bill Burt on September 17, 1983. In the early 1990s they sold the bar, and Bill retired from the oil fields to enjoy their time together.

Ruby had a passion for life and enjoyed new adventures. She never knew a stranger, and loved meeting new people. She was an inspiration to her family and friends.

Ruby is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Burt of Manville; one daughter, Sharon Moore (Kent), two sons, Ronnie Miller (JP) and Tommy Miller (Sharon); and four step-children: Jackie Bredthauer, Kathy Striker, Linda Lingelbach (Dave) and Bill Burt (Michelle). In addition, she left behind eleven granddaughters, three grandsons, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, Kenny; her parents; sister, Opal; brother, Bud; son-in-law Ralph; and great-grandson Kaden.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Niobrara Health and Life Center (Extended Care), PO Box 780, Lusk, WY 82225, or to the donor's choice.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 16, at Pier Funeral Home.
