Funeral services for Betty Redfield, 86, were held at the First Baptist Church in Lusk on Saturday, August 27, 2016, with Pastor Tom Strock and Pastor Joel Richardson officiating. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Betty passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Betty was born August 18, 1930 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She started school at Rawhide School in 1936 and attended Jay Em School, returning to Rawhide School until 1939 when she moved to Lusk. There she completed grade school and high school. In 1952 she graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor degree in education. She met her sweetheart, Leroy, while at U.W., and they were married in Lusk on August 3, 1952. They moved to California where she taught fourth grade at Hawthorne Elementary School. When they started their family, she became a stay at home Mom to raise their five children. Leroy's job as a contract engineer moved them to various locations: Dallas, TX; Columbus, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Wichita, KS; Birmingham, AL; and Miami, FL to name a few. She was a supportive wife in all of Leroy’s endeavors. The family moved to Lusk, Wyoming in 1972, where they managed the Ranger Hotel. Shortly thereafter they purchased the Spencer Hospital and turned it into the Hospitality House Motor Hotel. After 30 years of the motel business, they retired.

Betty loved her family, her pets, her church family and her friends. She used her teaching and piano playing skills in Sunday School, Jet Cadets, Good News Club, AWANA, VBS, and Job's Daughters. She made every one of her children and grandchildren feel like they were her favorite, and encouraged and supported their hopes and dreams. She filled their lives with love and family traditions: decorating Christmas cookies, dying Easter eggs, totem poles, homemade ice cream, family reunions, camping trips, vacations and birthday parties. She was very proud of her tribe of "Indians" that participated in the Legend of Rawhide, and the 4th of July has been one of her favorite celebrations. She had a great sense of humor and only kind words. Betty was a wonderful wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and the best Mom in the whole wide world. She will always be in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wes and Oneita Wolfe, her brother Eddy Wolfe, her husband Leroy Redfield, her son Dave Redfield, and her daughter Lisa Redfield.

She is survived by her daughters Leanne (Steve) Johnson, and Becky (Dan) Redfield-Bauer, her son Jon (Joaun) Redfield; grandchildren: Rosemary Johnson, Cindy (Aaron) Redfield-Rhoades, Melissa Meier, Scott Redfield, Steph Redfield, Carissa Redfield, Kacey Redfield, Jenni Redfield, J.W. (Moni) Alexander, Jon Alexander, Jody (Josh) Alexander-Johnson, and Jamie Alexander; great-grandchildren: Lyra and Sawyer Rhodes; David, Grace, and Riley Alexander; Amber Weymouth; and Charlie Demo; nieces: Linda (Wolfe) Payne and Marilyn (Wolfe) Woodruff and nephew Wes Wolfe.

Memorials in Betty's honor may be made to Niobrara Senior Center or to Robin’s Nest Homecare.

Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
