Memorial services for Thelma Ruby Heany, 98, will be conducted at 11:00 a,m, on December 17, 2016 at Maropsa Gardens in Mesa Arizona. She died September 17, 2016 at Shaded Arbors in El Cajon, California.

She was born October 14, 1917 near New Underwood, Pennington County, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Edna Ruth Eckersley Pullins.

She married Paul Temple Heany March 20, 1937 at Rapid City, South Dakota. To this union were born two daughters, Lavonne Faye and Florine Mae.

Living in several places, Park Rapids, Minnesota; Owanka and Sioux Falls, South Dakota before moving to Lusk, Wyoming November 13, 1944 living there until 2000. She and Paul moved to Apache Junction, AZ where they had spent the winters. In September of 2010 she moved to El Cajon, California to be closer to her daughter, Florine where she resided until her death.

She worked for Burge Motors, bookkeeper for the family business, working in the Niobrara County Clerks and Treasurers office. Retiring from the U.S.D.A. Niobrara County Agricultural Conservation Service.

She was a member of the Congregational Church United Church of Christ of which she served several years as Treasurer.

She held a 69 year life time membership in the Lusk and Mountain Valley Rebekah Lodges, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary and Association of Ladies Auxiliaries Patriarchs Militant, all of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. She was awarded the Meritorious Service Jewel by the Wyoming Rebekah Assembly and the Wyoming Grand Lodge for her service performed on behalf of Odd Fellowship beyond the usual and customary duties. She served as leaders for Brownies, Girl Scouts, 4-H and RoseBud Theta Rho Girls Club while her daughters were active in these programs.

For many years she organized the Pinochle and Bridge Marathon, of which the funds went to charity. She enjoyed sewing, counted cross-stitch, playing cards and spending the winters in their mobile home in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul, she is survived by her two daughters, Lavonne Compton and husband Ronald and Florine Murillo and husband John, her sister Eileen Groeneveld. Three grandchildren, Stewart Henton, Rhonda Hastings and husband Kevin and Deborah Klingbeil and husband Dane. Great grandchildren; Dustin and Veronica Hastings, Cody Hastings, Nicole, Jessica and Allison Henton and Becca and husband Tyler Davis and a Great Great Grandaughter Rhilyn Hastings.
