Raymond George Miller

Raymond George Miller, 70, of Gillette, Wy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 30, 2017 at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette. He was born to George and Dorothy Miller on March 2, 1947 in Lusk, Wy. He lived most of his life in Gillette, Wy.

Raymond grew up in Lance Creek, Wy and graduated from Niobrara County High School in Lusk in 1965. Thereafter he joined the Army. Upon leaving the army in 1968 he began his career at the Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock Wy, in 1978 he transferred to the Wyodak Power Plant in Gillette, and in 1992 he went to the Gadsby Power Plant in Sandy Utah and retired in 1996. He later started 5 Star Maintenance in Gillette. Raymond married Connie McCann in April 1969, and later divorced in 1994. They had three sons. Raymond should be remembered for doing the things he loved watching Bronco games, riding horses, mountain biking, wood working, analyzing and trading stocks and his positive attitude. Raymond was a loving father, and always loved to make a friend of any stranger.

Raymond is survived by his three sons, Shane (Sharla) Miller of Gilbert AZ, Shawn (Kelly) Miller of Cheyenne, WY, Bryan (Robin) Miller of Gillette WY. He is also survived by his sister Dixie (Ray) Bredthauer of Pinedale, Wy Bobby (Marilyn) Miller of Douglas, his mother Dorothy Snell of Glenrock, Wy, Uncle Pat (Bev) Miller of Lance Creek, Wy, Aunt Sharon (Jerry) Kanode Moorcroft, Wy and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Miller, step father Gilbert Snell and step brother Ronnie Snell.

A special thank you to the Home Health and Hospice House in Gillette Wy for their loving care and support.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, Wy. A luncheon after the service will be hosted by the Miller family at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Lusk, Wy. Raymond will be laid to rest in the Lusk Cemetery. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Close to Home Hospice, PO Box 3318, Gillette WY 82717.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be hosted by the family on Saturday, May 13, 10-noon at the Moose Lodge in Gillette.
