Former Van Tassell Resident Dies in Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Olinger Mortuary, Speer boulevard and Sherman street, for Mitchell Jefferson Ammons, formerly of Denver, and a son of a pioneer western family, who died suddenly Sunday in Monte Vista.

The body was brought to Denver Tuesday from Monte Vista, where Mr. Ammons had resided since the war. He was preparing to move to Roswell, N.M. to head a new district of the Federal Guarantee Reserve Insurance Co. at the time of his death.

He was descended of pioneers who settled in Illinois early in the country's development. His parents brought him to a Wyoming homestead when he was a boy.

His sister, Mrs. Edith Eudora Kohl of the Denver Post staff, at that time published at Van Tassell, Wyo., one of a number of pioneer newspapers she edited in five states.

Mr. Ammons was in the first contingent of troops to go overseas in the first World War and was still in the trenches when the armistice was signed. He served with the Thirty-second division.

He moved to Denver in 1927.
