Last Rites Held For Agnes Graham

The final rites for Mrs. Agnes Graham were conducted from the Methodist Church at Gibbon, Nebr. at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 20 with interment in the family plot.

Mrs. Graham died at Lusk September 18 and her body was taken to Crawford, Nebr. by the Peet Mortuary from which point it was shipped to Gibbon.

Woodson Graham, son of the deceased, accompanied the body and he was joined at Crawford by his daughter, Crystal McCarthy, of Cheyenne.

Agnes Lane was born near Columbus, Ohio July 3, 1867. When a small child her parents moved to Olathe, Kans., where she spent her early childhood. At about 12 years of age she and her family moved to Hill City, Kans., where she grew to young womanhood.

On the 25th of February, 1867, she was married to Woodson F. Graham, a marriage which endured for 56 years. To them were born two children, Woodson and Ada.

In 1888 this family moved to Gibbon, Nebr. where they resided on a farm and later in the village for 56 years. Failing health caused her to close the old home and came to make her home with her son, Woodson, north of Hat Creek, Wyo. She died Sept. 18 at the age of 81.

Her husband and daughter preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Woodson Graham; four grandchildren, Maxine Williams, Benicia, Calif.; Horace Graham, San Diego, Calif.; Crystal McCarthy, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Mrs. Robert Sable of Crookston, Minn.; two sisters, Kate Lawson, of Keewanie, Ill.; Lizzie McClure, Hill City, Kans.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Originally published in The Lusk Herald, September 30, 1948. Family source has confirmed that the year of Mr. and Mrs. Woodson's marriage was erroneously stated as 1867, and should be 1887.
