Military Service Held for Albert Walter Sunday

Military funeral services were conducted for Albert Walter, who died suddenly at Worland, Feb. 3, from the Peet Mortuary Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Mr. Walter had been a member of the Lusk Post of the American Legion.

The Rev. Millard Marshall, pastor of the Congregational Church, conducted the American Legion services at the cemetery and a firing squad of the Lusk Home Guard unit fired the final salute.

Members of the Derk J. Wieten Post No. 4, American legion, attended in a body. Members of the firing squad under the direction of Lt. Dan Hanson and Lt. Jack Williams were Jay Grater, Harold Gautschi, Harold Keiser, E.M. McKenna, Robert Crow, Harold Siel and Kenneth Gibson.

Pallbearers were Roy Turnbull, Albion Lind, Carl Brack, Martin Mudra, Ray Freeman, and Charles Lund. Assisting with the music were J.M. Hungate, Ford Kuns, Mrs. Robert Kuns and Mrs. Abdon DeCastro with Mrs. Judson P. Watson accompanying.

Mrs. Charles Lund, a daughter who was married February 2, did not learn of her father's death until returning to Lusk from her honeymoon on Saturday.

Albert J. Walter, son of Albert and Francis Walter, was born November 13,1893 at Ottawa, Ill. In 1900 he moved to Indiana with his parents, later moving to Minnesota where on may 27, 1918 he joined the U.S. Army serving overseas and received his honorable discharge May 18, 1919.

On October 21, 1919 he married Luella B. Konkling. To them were born four children. One child, Alfred Lee and Mrs. Walter have previously died.

Mr. Walter with his three children came to Wyoming in March, 1940, residing on a ranch north of Node until about a year ago. He came to Lusk where he was employed as a truck driver, the occupation he followed until his death February 3 at Worland.

He is survived by three children, Mrs. Charles Lund Jr., Warren Wilbur, Joyce Esther; one brother, Ray of Node; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Sides of Lusk, Mrs. Ricard Updike of Osage and Miss Emma Walter of Node.
