Mary Martha Snyder

In Memory of Mrs. Mary V. Snyder

Saturday morning, February 14, 1925, Mrs. Mary Vincent Snyder passed from this life. She had been a resident of Lusk since 1895. During that time she always took an active part in all the social and civic affairs of our city. She was ever ready to give her support and personal aid to any enterprises which she believed to be for the good of our citizens.

She was a charter member of our Eastern Star and its first Worthy Matron which office she very efficiently  filled for two years. She was the leading spirit in building up the chapter furnishing our beautiful hall and in every way promoting the order. She was later elected Grand Worthy Matron of the State of Wyoming. During her administration of that office many words of praise and gratitude were extended to her from the respective chapters she visited thruout the state for the helpful and loving service she rendered.

She was an active member of the P.E. O. of which organization she was president at the time of her death.

Mrs. Snyder was also a member and officer of the D.A. R. and doubtless her sterling character was an endowment from her Puritan ancestors.

She joined the Presbyterian church in her youth and was always devoted to spiritual ideals ---ever ready to serve her neighbors and uplift any who sought her help.

The death of her life partner, Harry C. Snyder, November 16, 1916 left her heart-broken but she bravely took up the burdens of life and did her best to carry on his business and keep up the home her had so richly endowed with love and the comforts of life. She was one of the kindest of mothers, ever ready to make any sacrifice that might bring happiness to her loved ones.

Her devoted family and her many friends here and through out the state deeply mourn the loss of one who has gone Home at the close of the day, but whose influence still lives to bless our community and the lives of all who knew her.
