Unusual Burial At Prairie View Cemetery

An unusual burial took place at the Prairie View Cemetery at Keeline on May 27. The cremated remains of Floyd Herbert Crabb, Jr. were placed in the family plot. Mr. Crabb, 40, a World War II veteran, died in Salem Ore., Nov 2, 1968. After the body was cremated the remains were sent to the mortuary in Douglas where they remained until May 26, 1970, when a relative from Wheatland came and brought the remains to the Peet Mortuary in Lusk.

Mr. Doctor received a white Government marker in 1968 to be placed on the Crabb grave at the Prairie View Cemetery. After checking with the cemetery board, it was learned the remains were not placed in the Keeline cemetery.

A group of Keeline neighbors, Wilmer Baars, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nutal and Mrs. David Poage, who were cleaning the cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day, assisted Mr. Doctor with the burial and the setting of the marker.

Others from Keeline helping clean at the cemetery later in the afternoon were Mrs. Kenneth Gaukel and Kevin, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Freeman and Charles.
