Ida Crane dies

Mrs. Del (Ida) Crane, Lusk, died Sunday at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. Funeral service was being held this Wednesday at 1:30 at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Fred Bolinger officiating. Mrs. Edna DeCastro organist was accompanying Mrs. Hobart Cockerham as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." Casket bearers are Jim Potter, Bill Anderson, Bill Magoon, John Jassman, Elmer Fleming and Don Cacciatore. Burial was to be in the Douglas Park Cemetery, Douglas, Wyo. at 3:30 p.m.

Ida Bethel Cass was born May 25, 1890, at Cody, Neb., the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth Carr Cass. She received her education in the schools at Cody and Merriman, Neb. July 24, 1910, she and Del Crane were married at Merriman. They homesteaded in Cherry County, south of Merriman. In 1928 they moved to Niobrara County where he worked on the Hamilton ranch north of Lusk. They lived on various ranches where her husband was employed at Lost Springs, Hartville, and Ft. Laramie. In 1955 they retired and moved to Lusk.

Mrs. Crane is survived by her widower Del; son Newton "Bill" Crane and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Elaine Bright; and six brothers and sisters.
