JOE CURREY DIES IN RIVERTON TUES.

George E. (Joe) Currey, 64, died in the Riverton Hospital Tuesday morning. He had been ill with cancer for the past two years.

Funeral services were still pending at The Herald's presstime Wednesday, but will likely be held in Lusk with burial in Douglas.

Mr. Currey was owner and operator of the K.C. Barber Shop in Lusk. He came to Lusk in the fall of 1935 from Sargent, Nebr. He was born in Sargent June 10, 1901 and reared there. He practiced the barbering trade in Sargent before coming to Lusk.

Survivors besides his widow, Tressia, include his son, Keith of Riverton, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral for Joe Currey Held in Lusk Friday

Funeral services for George E. (Joe) Currey were held from the Peet Mortuary Friday afternoon with burial being made in the Douglas Cemetery. Mr. Currey died February 15 in the Riverton hospital of cancer.

The Rev. James Davis of the Congregational Church officiated at the services. Gerald Bardo, Dale M. Bardo and Jim Wilson sang "Beautiful Isle" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. Gerald Bardo was organist.

Casketbearers were Dick Lee, Vensus Kilmer, Harry Fernau Sr., Paul Heany, Chuck Vaughan, Emil Kirch.

George Edward Currey was born June 10, 1901 at Litchfield, Nebr., to Frank and Nellie Currey. He attended school in Loup County, Nebr., and barber college at Lincoln, Nebr., graduating in 1924. He and Tressa M. Ullom were married at Broken Bow, Nebr., August 24, 1927. They were the parents of one son, LaVern Keith.

The Currey family made their home in Lusk since 1935 and during these years he operated the K. C. Barber Shop.

Mr. Currey is survived by his widow, Tressa; one son, Keith of Riverton; three brothers, Ralph of Newcastle, Merle of Basin, Fred of Sergent, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Worthington of Basin, Mrs. Ann Rawlins of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and one brother Ray and one sister Blanche died previously.
