POETRY SLAM! The library will host professional poets from Denver and Laramie on Saturday, June 14 at 1 p.m. This event is a part of the celebration of 50 years of the Beatniks. Featuring Ken Arkind, Panama Soweto from Denver and Luke Stricker and Craig Arnold from Laramie!
Everyone is invited for an afternoon of entertainment! This program is a We the People project with sponsorship from the Wyoming Humanities Council.

“Enchanted” will be shown on Thursday, June 12 at 1 p.m. A storybook princess is thrust into present day Manhattan by an evil queen. Her prince follows to rescue her but her journey causes her to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. The film is rated PG and is 107 minutes long. The library will provide the popcorn, bring your own drink.

A new fiction book for adults is “Where Are You?” by Mary Higgins Clark. Carolyn MacKenzie is driven to solve the mystery of her older brother’s disappearance ten years ago, but her pursuit plunges her into a world of danger and unanswered questions.

Other new books are “The Third Angel” by Alice Hoffman, “Hold Tight” by Harlan Coben, “Adam” by Ted Dekker, “The Miracle at Speedy Motors” by Alexander McCall Smith and “The Genius” by Jesse Kellerman.

New adult non-fiction books are “Losing it: and Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time” by Valerie Bertinelli, “Family Gardens: How to Create Magical Outdoor Spaces for All Ages” by Bunny Guinness and “Just Who Will You Be” by Maria Shriver.

A new young adult book is “Lock and Key” by Sarah Deesen.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has this new junior book, “Jumping the Scratch” by Sarah Weeks.

New picture books are “Grandpa’s Treasure” by Rhonda Telfer, “How Big is a Million?” by Anna Milbourne, “The Littlest Llama” by Jane Buxton and “Dirt On My Shirt” by Jeff Foxworthy.

“Father's Day" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 and Thursday, June 12, 2008. Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.
