A dinner and film series featuring films that showcase Wyoming in a variety of ways will begin on Monday, September 21 at 6 p.m. Deane Tucker, Professor of Humanities at Chadron State College will facilitate the discussion. Each showing will begin with a free light meal. The first film, “Shane” is considered one of the great Westerns. Starring Alan Ladd, Van Heflin and Jean Arthur this is a simple, moving story that depicts friendship that most will remember. This film won an Oscar for its photography, highlighting the landscape near Jackson Hole. For more information about the film series call the library at 334-3490.

Sunday library hours return on Sunday, September 13 from 12 to 4 p.m. Wednesday hours are also changing, they will be 12 to 7 p.m. through the end of May. Library hours are: Sunday, 12-4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, 12-7 p.m.

A new suspense novel is “Killer Summer” by Ridley Pearson. Idaho’s Blaine County sheriff Walt Fleming is taking a rare afternoon of fly-fishing with his nephew, Kevin, when a passing truck catches his eye. His investigation leads him to a plot to steal priceless wines at the upcoming Sun Valley wine auction. When a bomb detonates as the auction revs up, the case explodes as well, pulling Walt in a dozen different directions.

Other new fiction includes “There is Something about St. Tropez” by Elizabeth Adler, “The Night With You” by Sophie Jordon, “Burn” by Linda Howard, “Standard of Honor” by Jack Whyte, “Twenties Girl” by Sophie Kinsella and “Straight From the Hip” by Susan Mallery.

New non-fiction books are “Magnificent Desolation: the Long Journey From the Moon” by Buzz Aldrin and “Columbine” by Dave Cullen.

“The Return: Nightfall” by L. J. Smith and “Adored” by Cecily Von Ziegesar are new in the Young Adult Section.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has “Go Big or Go Home” by Will Hobbs in the new Junior section and “Police Officers on Patrol” by Kersten Hamilton, “Luke on the Loose” by Harry Bliss, “Have You Ever Seen a Duck in a Raincoat?” by Etta Kaner and “I Lost My Sock” by Lin Jakary are new for younger children.

"Mouse Mess" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, September 15 and Thursday, September 17. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
