Beginning Memorial Day weekend the library will close on Sunday throughout the summer. Hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Noon to 7 p.m.

The week of May 24th the online catalog will NOT be available statewide due to a production server upgrade. Library patrons will still be able to check material out, however we ask that you bring your library card with you during this week. Patrons will still have access to full-text databases and be able to download eAudiobooks during this time-period. For more information contact the library at 334-3490.

“Huitt on Haiti” will be presented at the library on Tuesday, May 25 at Noon. Bring your lunch and enjoy this presentation by Dr. Carlton Huitt.

Registration begins for the summer reading program, “Make a Splash, Read!” on Monday, May 25 for children that have completed the first through fifth grades. The program will be held on Wednesdays beginning June 2 through July 10 from 1-2 p.m. at the library. Yvonne has many fun stories and activities planned so be sure to call and register.

A new thriller is “Down To the Wire” by David Rosenfelt. Reporter Chris Turley has never measured up to his father, one of the last great investigative reporters. Then one day there is an explosion and Chris saves 5 people from the burning building. All of a sudden he is a hero and a celebrity, but what seems like a reporter’s dream quickly becomes an inescapable nightmare…. Call now to place a hold on this book!

Other new fiction includes “Shattered” by Karen Robards, “Dead Shot” by Jack Coughlin, “Fragile Beasts” by Tawni O’Dell, “The Silent Sea” by Clive Cussler, “A River in the Sky” by Elizabeth Peters and “The Language of Secrets” by Dianna Dixon. New on the YA shelf is “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” by John Green and “Movers & Shakers” by Lisa Harrison.

“Nation of Nitwits and Barbarians” by Theodore R. Haley, “Texas Tough” by Robert Perkinson and “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin are now on the non-fiction shelf.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new books: “Glitter Girls and the Great Fake Out” by Meg Cabot, “Keys To the Demon Prison” by Brandon Mull and “Gregory and the Curse of the Warmbloods” by Suzanne Collins as well as "Hachiko: the True Story of a Loyal Dog” by Pamela S. Turner and “Chalk” by Bill Thompson.

"Dino Day" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
