 Showing Thursday, June 3 at 1 p.m. We'll provide the popcorn, bring your own drink! Friday, May 21, 2010 The library will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2010 in observance of Memorial Day. Summer hours resume on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Noon to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. We look forward to seeing you soon! Call now to register your children for the summer reading program, “Make a Splash, Read!” The program begins on Wednesday, June 2 and continues through July 14. Each Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. children will enjoy fun activities, crafts and stories featuring this statewide theme. Thursday, June 3 marks the beginning of weekly movies beginning at 1 p.m. Films suitable for the entire family will be featured each week throughout the summer and "G-Force" is the first film scheduled. A new fiction book is “The Walk” by Richard Paul Evans. Alan Christofferson is a successful Seattle advertising executive who seems to have it all. However, on the day that he seals a three million dollar advertising campaign events begin unfolding that will soon take from him everything he holds dear. At first he considers taking his own life; instead, with little more than the clothes on his back and his diary he sets off on a walk from Seattle to Florida. Other new fiction books include “Whiter than Snow” by Francine Rivers, “Get Lucky” by Katherine Center, “At the Gates of Darkness” by Raymond E. Feist, “The Sheen on Silk” by Anne Perry and “The Book of Murdock” by Loren D. Estleman. “She Thief” by Daniel Finn is new on the YA shelf. New adult non-fiction books are “The Nine Rooms of Happiness: Loving Yourself, Finding Your Purpose, and Getting over Life’s Little Imperfections” by Lucy Danziger, “Beyond the Cleavage” by Racquel Welch, “Organic Manifesto: How Organic Farming Can Heal Our Planet, Feed the World, and Keep Us Safe” by Maria Rodale and “So Long Insecurity” by Beth Moore. The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new titles: “The Mysterious Howling” by Mary Rose Wood and “As Easy As Falling Off the Face Of the Earth” by Lynne Rae Perkins as well as “The Tyrannosaurus Game” by Steven Kroll, “Lily’s Victory Garden” by Helen L.Wilbur and “What If Everybody Did That” by Ellen Javernick. "HOP INTO SUMMER" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 3. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year. 334-3274 is the Dial-A-Story number.
