The Carlson Ranch held many secrets, secrets that burned to get out. Hallie had found a secret place herself, one where she felt a strange attachment. Little did she know this place held answers to many questions that ran through her head - will she discover the secret of Hallie's cabin? Author, Lynna Faye Engegretsen, a graduate of the Niobrara County High School will be at the library at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 26 signing copies of her book, “The Secret of Hallie’s Cabin.” Be sure to stop by and get your copy in order to learn “The Secret of Hallie’s Cabin.”

The Friends of the Library will be also hosting their annual used Book Sale and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 26. The Book Sale begins at 8 a.m. and the Ice Cream Social at 11 a.m.

Tessa Russo is the mother of two young children and the wife of a renowned pediatric surgeon and Valerie Anderson is an attorney and single mother to a six-year-old boy who has never known his father in Emily Griffin’s “Heart of the Matter.” Although both women live in the same Boston suburb, they have relatively little in common aside from a fierce love for their children. Then one night a tragic accident causes their lives to converge in ways no one could imagine. Call now to place your reserve on this book.

Other new fiction includes: “Blockade Billy” by Stephen King, “Burning Lamp” by Amanda Quick, “Strip” by Thomas Perry, “The Carrie Diaries” by Candace Bushnell, “House of Secrets” by Richard Hawke and“Eight Days to Live” by Iris Johansen. “Bear Market” by Michelle Martin Bossley and “Reckless” by Lesley Choyce are now available in the YA section.

“Eat the Cookie….Buy the Shoes: Giving Yourself Permission to Lighten Up” by Joyce Meyer is now available on the new non-fiction shelf as is “Clint: a Retrospective” by Richard Schickel and “The Fifth Agreement” by Don Miguel Ruiz.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has this new junior title: “Racing Against Time” by Suzanne Weyn. New easy titles are “Pigs to the Rescue” by John Himmelman, “The Eraserheads” by Kate Banks and “The Weaver” by Thacher Hurd.

"The 4th of July!" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 29 and Thursday, July 1. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year. The movie, "G-Force" will be shown on Thursday, July 1 at 1 p.m.
