Wednesday, October 13 the film, “Blow” will be shown as part of the Faces of Addiction series at 6 p.m. at the library. A light meal will be served and discussion facilitators are Deane Tucker and Richard Patterson. Be sure to come by for this free, thought provoking evening.

Besides the online catalog (for the entire state), there is local historical and genealogical information and thousands of full-text magazines as well as language learning options, downloadable audio books and even practice tests for elementary through adult learners. You will need your library card number and PIN to access the databases. Don’t hesitate to call or stop by the library if you run into problems.

A new book by Jude Deveraux is “Scarlet Nights.” Three weeks before Sara Shaw is to marry Greg Anders, he disappears. Two days later a man arrives at her door saying that he is her best friend’s brother and that he is moving in. While Mike Newland told the truth about his identity, he is also an undercover detective on the trail of one of most notorious criminals in the United States….Greg’s mother.

Other new fiction books include “Stash” by David Klein, “Dracula, My Love: the Secret Journals of Mini Harker” by Syrie James, “Dog Tags” by David Rosenfelt, “The Clouds Beneath the Sun” by Mackenzie Ford, “A Dog Named Christmas” by Greg Kincaid, “A Fierce Radiance” by Lauren Belfer and “Faithful” by Janet Fox. New Young Adult books are “The Wonder of Charlie Ann” by Kimberly Newton Fusco and “Winter Longing” by Tricia Mills.

New non-fiction books are “I’m Still with You: True Stories of Healing Grief Through Spirit Communication” by Carole J. Obley and “Dancing in the Dark: the Waltz in Wonder of Quantum Metaphysics” by Ronald Keast, PhD. Be sure to also check out the variety of non-fiction Books on CD and educational DVD's.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “Everything for a Dog” by Ann M. Martin and “Savvy” by Ingrid Law. New easy books are “Titanicat” by Marty Crisp and “I Hate Reading: How to Get Through 20 Minutes of Reading a Day without Really Reading” by Arthur Bacon.

"Ghost Stories" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, October 13, 2010. Storyhour is held each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for children age three through kindergarten.
