Tuesday, October 19 is Wyoming Libraries Snapshot Day! This day is set aside to show the impact that the state’s libraries have on Wyoming residents every single day. We would like your stories and to know what libraries mean to you. Stop by for a form or email dsturman@niobraracountylibrary.org. The data, as well as stories and pictures are being collected by the Wyoming State Library and will be compiled for a snapshot of a day in a Wyoming’s libraries.

Wednesday, October 30, Wyoming author Alyson Hagy will present a program on her book “Ghosts of Wyoming: Stories” at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Watch for more information on this sure to be interesting program!

A new book is “The Cookbook Collector” by Allegra Goodman. Emily and Jessamine Bach are opposites in every way. 28 year-old Emily is CEO of Veritech and making a fortune in the Silicon Valley. 23 year-old Jess is an environmental activist and graduate student in philosophy and works in an antiquarian bookshop. Both have yet to learn about holding on to what is real in a virtual world: love that stays.

Other new fiction books include “Once in a Blue Moon” by Eileen Goudge, “A Love of Her Own” by Maggie Brendon, “Tinkers” by Paul Harding (winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize), “The Life You’ve Imagined” by Kristina Riggles, “A Hopeful Heart” by Kim Vogel Sawyer, “Cure” by Robin Cook and “Tough Customer” by Sandra Brown. “After” by Amy Efaw and “Hush, Hush” by Becca Fitzpatrick are new on the YA fiction shelf.

New non-fiction books are “How to Raise Your Adult Children: Because Big Kids Have Even Bigger Problems” by Gail Parent and “The Dead Hand: the Untold Story of the Cold War Arms Race and Its Dangerous Legacy” by David E. Hoffman.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new books: “Heart of a Shepherd” by Roseanne Parry and “Rise of the Huntress” by Joseph DeLaney. Picture books include: “Yes Day” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and “The Bog Baby” by Jeanne Wills.

“Bats!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday for children age 3 through kindergarten.
