Tickets are still available for the Niobrara County Library Foundation’s Wine Tasting to be held on Sunday, January 15 at the Niobrara Country Club. Water 2 Wine from Denver will provide a variety of tasting wine and an assortment of cheeses, appetizers and desserts will be available. Tickets are $30 and proceeds will benefit the Wyoming Public Library Endowment Challenge, 3:1 match.

The library will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2012 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday and Wyoming Equality Day. Normal hours will resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the 17th.

A three book discussion series begins on Monday, February 6 at 6 p.m. with the discussion of “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer. Contact the library to register and to pick up a copy of the book, Wayne Deahl returns to lead the discussions. “The Hard Way” by Mark Jenkins will be discussed on March 5 and April 2 Aron Ralston’s “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” will be featured.

Stephen J. Cannell’s newest title is “Vigilante". Lita Mendez was a thorn in the LAPD’s side so when she was found dead in her home, detectives Shane and Hitch feared the worst – that there’s a killer in their ranks. Outside the crime scene, Nixon Nash, the host of the hit reality show ”Vigilante TV,” is dedicated to solving murders before the police can… but just how far would he go in the name of self-promotion?

The library’s Facebook page features reviews of books also, so you might want to check that out.

Other new fiction books include “Explosive Eighteen” by Janet Evanovich, “The Drop” by Michael Connelly, “The Scottish Prisoner” by Diana Gabaldon, “Survivors” by James Wesley Rawls, “In Close” by Brenda Novak, “The Battle of the Crater” by Newt Gingrich and “Books Can be Deceiving” by Jenn McKinlay. A new title for the young adult is “The Future of Us” by Jay Asher.

Be sure to check out the Virtual Library for some of these new titles as well. Titles can be downloaded to eReaders, tablets, PC’s and many mobile devices.

New adult non-fiction books are “7 Secrets of Sound Healing” by Jonathan Goldman, “Haythorn Land & Cattle Co.: a Horseman’s Heritage” by Lisa Norman and “Lennon: the Man, the Myth, the Music – the Definitive Life” by Tim Riley.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books: "Ivy + Bean: Doomed to Dance” by Annie Barrows, “Buggy Breakout” by Carolyn Keene and “Zane: Ninja of Ice” by Greg Farshtey. Some new titles for the easy readers are “Fly Guy Meets Fly Girl” by Ted Arnold, “Kat’s Maps” by Jon Scieszka and “The Sweetest Fig” by Chris van Allsburg.
