Featured entertainment will be WAYNE & WINGNUT, who will bring lots of family comedy, funny voices, songs, audience involvement, all rolled into one big ball of spontaneous fun! Children will all be able to select their very own books and snacks will also be served.

Plan to attend the Celtic Music Performance on Sunday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. Matthew Gurnsey performs traditional Irish and Scottish music with a variety of Celtic instruments as well as a rich bass voice. This program is sponsored by the Niobrara County Library Foundation.

Have you visited any of the digital libraries lately? The Virtual Library, available to residents in Niobrara, Natrona and Platte counties boasts over 2100 digital books and users can now check out and place holds on up to 6 items at a time (compatible with most readers, smartphones and devices as well as the Kindle family). The 3M library which is available to all of Wyoming residents does give our patrons access to Penguin items that can’t be purchased for the Virtual Library, so be sure to check it out as well. Don’t forget Freading, also available statewide, has literally thousands of books available for simultaneous check-out based on a token system! The 3M library and Freading are compatible with epub readers and devices as well as the Kindle Fire.

One of our newer books is “The Patron Saint of Lost Dogs” by Nick Trout. After 15 years Dr. Cyrus Mills returns to Vermont to inherit the failing veterinary practice of his recently deceased and long estranged father. Cyrus, a veterinary pathologist, is far more comfortable with cold clinical facts than living, breathing animals and he plans to sell the practice. Then his first patient – a down-on-the-luck golden retriever named Frieda Frozen Paws – wags her way through the door and before he knows it Cyrus is caught up in a new community and its endearing residents.

Other new fiction books are “Moonlight Masquerade” by Jude Deveraux, “Benediction” by Kent Haruf, “That Night in Thistle Lane” by Carla Neggers, “Alex Cross, Run” by James Patterson, “Daybreak” by Shelley Shepard Gray, “I Am Half-Sick of Shadows” by Alan Bradley, “Calculated in Death” by J.D. Robb, and “The Striker” by Clive Cussler. Several of these titles are also available on cd as well. “Shadowhunters and Downworlders: a Mortal Instruments Reader” by Cassandra Clare is new on the YA shelf.

New adult non-fiction books are “The Feminine Mystique” by Betty Fridan (a 50th anniversary release), “The Baby Book” edited by Nikki Sims and “Storm Kings: the Untold History of America’s First Tornado Chasers” by Lee Sandlin.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles “Stink and the Freaky Frog Freakout” by Megan McDonald, “Never Say Die” by Will Hobbs and “Amelia Bedelia Means Business” by Herman Parish. A couple of new easy books are “Emeraldalicious” by Victoria Kann and “One Gorilla” by Anthony Browne.
