Mark your calendar now for Friday, August 9! In celebration of 100 years of service, an evening of music and food is being planned in the street between 5th and Elm beginning at 5 p.m. Watch for more information!

The Niobrara County Library Foundation has announced that peaches from Palisade, Colorado will once again be available. Orders are now being taken by calling the library, 334-3490; or Leslie Hammond, 307-334-2534; Lisa Pischel, 307-340-0471; Pat Bruch, 307-334-3153. The half-bushel box is $40 and will be available the last part of August.

The afternoon movie on Thursday, July 18 is "Balto" which is rated G and is 77 minutes. On Thursday, July 25 the sequel, "Balto II : Wolf Quest" will be shown. It is also rated G and is 78 minutes. The library provides popcorn; please bring your own drinks.

A new thriller is “Time to Kill” by Jack Coughlin. Islamic terrorists are bent on delivering Egypt into the hands of America’s archenemy – Iran. Washington turns to Marine master sniper Kyle Swanson and Tianha Bealy, a British Secret Service agent. Given free rein to attack the Iranians, Swanson and Bealy go on a dangerous mission to prevent a total war in the Middle East no matter what the cost.

Other new fiction books include “One Heart to Win” by Johanna Lindsey, “Montaro Caine” by Sidney Poitier, “Stealing the Preacher” by Karen Witemeyer, “The Lullaby of Polish Girls” by Dagmara Dominczyk, “Ray of Light” by Shelley Shepard Gray, “Joyland” by Stephen King, “Bewitching” by Carla Neggers and “The King’s Deception” by Steve Berry. ”Fear: a Gone novel” by Michael Grant and “Tidal” by Amanda Hocking are available in the young adult section.

New non-fiction books are “Eating Dirt: Deep Forests, Big Timber, and Life With the Tree Planting Tribe” by Charlotte Gill, “The Emerald Mile: the Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Grand Canyon” by Kevin Fedarko and “Margaret Thatcher: the Authorized Biography: from Grantham to the Falklands” by Charles Moore.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles: “The Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle” by Christopher Healy and “Showoff” by Gordon Korman. A new easy book is “Nighttime Ninja” by Barbara DaCosta.
