Wednesday, July 16 at 2 p.m. Astronomer Kevin Manning, former consultant with NASA will present "Astronomy for Everyone" at the library. Kevin will present the size and scale of the universe using hands-on activities and visuals. The 90 minute program is suitable for everyone so be sure to come by!

Congratulations to Tom Wasserburger for the winning bid for the Bad Ladies Dresden Plate quilt. The proceeds will benefit the Niobrara County Library Foundation.

It's a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they're hurtled from Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon in "Rio 2." As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel - and meets his father-in-law. The film will be shown on Thursday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m. The library provides the popcorn, please bring your own drink.

James Rollins has a new book entitled "The Kill Switch." A desperate call from Painter Crowe, Director of Sigma Force, thrusts Captain Tucker Wayne and his stalwart dog, Kane, into a frantic race to save a pharmaceutical magnate from a cadre of skilled assassins backed by a shadowy Russian general bent on power and revenge. Hunted and betrayed at every turn Tucker and Kane must discover the truth behind a biological threat - a horror out of the ancient past than can be weaponized to terrorize the modern world.

Other new fiction books are "Kansas Bleeds" by Melody Groves, "Hunt the Jackal" by Don Mann, "The Chronicle of Secret Riven" by Ronlyn Dominque, "The Lincoln Myth" by Steve Berry, "Hardpressed" by Meredith Wild, "People of the Morning Star" by W. Michael Gear, "The Heiresses" by Sara Shepard, "Suspicion" by Joseph Finder and "Crown of Renewal" by Elizabeth Moon. Julie Kagawa's newest book, "The Forever Song" is among several new young adult books.

New adult non-fiction books are "To Heaven and Back: a Doctor's Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels, and Life Again: a True Story" by Mary C. Neal, "Wild and Rugged Wyoming: Terri's Photographic Journey Through Wyoming" by Terri Anne Stickland-Odell and "Home Sweet Anywhere: How We sold Our House, Created a New Life, and Saw the World" by Lynne Martin.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, "Charlie Bumpers vs. the Really Nice Gnome" by Bill Harley, "File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents" by Lemony Snicket and "Upside Down in the Middle of Nowhere" by Julia T. Lamana. New picture books include "Me and My Dad" by Alison Richie, "The Berenstain Bears' Lemonade Stand" by Mike Berenstain and "The Big Book of Slumber" by Giovanna Zoboli.
